4.1 a May/June 2001 CAC Friends of the CAC Bulletin CAC’s participation in the Gay Pride Parade took place just before Fr. Rohr resumed a more direct role in the Center’s leadership, although he was, as demonstrated above, actively involved in the Center’s work at the time.

LPC Response:

August 2001, Los Pequeños Pepper, “CAC on the Move”

However, Rohr’s article in the 10-12/01 Radical Grace “On the Horns of a Dilemma: Catholic Teaching on Homosexuality,” published after Rohr became “Founding Director” demonstrates a deep sympathy with the positions of the Gay Pride movement.  Rohr challenges the Church’s insistence that homosexuals remain celibate.  “The Catholic theology of charisms always described them as ‘free gifts.’

Total chastity is called the ‘charism’ of celibacy.  This would appear to be a contradiction in terms.  You cannot order someone to have a charism.”
