The flier announcing Sr. Gramick’s
May 18, 2001
talk is extremely hostile towards the Church.
It reads: “In July 1999,
the
Vatican
’s
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith permanently prohibited her [Gramick]
from this pastoral work [with homosexuals] and from holding any office in
her congregation. In May 2000,
the
Vatican
asked the congregation to prohibit her from speaking about the
investigation and about homosexuality.
She responded that it is a basic human right to speak about one’s
experience and that, in conscience, she choose not to collaborate in her
own oppression..”
